An anthology cd of Persian music, that, like all those of this category, has the inevitable defect to leave many essential works, many singers, instrumentalist and interpreters, many fundamental styles aside. It is indeed impossible to summarize the several millenia of history of Persian music in a CD of 12 cuts. This disc, that accompanies to the book by Jean During "The Art of Persian Music" contains some unique recordings very difficult and for some of the cuts impossible to obtain nowadays unless one has access to the mastertapes recordings. Thus, it is worth the trouble to have it if one is fond of modal music, particularly Persian. In the downloadable file, apart from the tracks of the disc are included the pages of the book in which During describes each piece in detail, mentioning the disc (when the case occurs) each track is taken from.
